Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Airport Pick-up - Hotel Drop-off Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), our dedicated staff from Gosheni Safaris will greet you and transfer you to your accommodation in Moshi. Here, you will receive a brief orientation for the upcoming climb, and our team will conduct a thorough check of your equipment and gear.

Day 2: Momella Gate (1500m) - Miriakamba Hut (2500m) In the morning, we'll pick you up from your hotel and drive for approximately 45 minutes to the Arusha National Park Gate for entry procedures. From there, we proceed to Momella Gate, where our ascent begins. After a steady 2-hour climb, you'll reach Maio Falls and encounter picturesque meadows. Continuing onward, you'll come across the famous "Arched Fig Tree," a natural formation creating an arch over the path. After another 1½ - 2 hours, we'll reach the Miriakamba Hut.

Day 3: Miriakamba Hut (2500m) - Saddle Hut (3550m) Starting early, we follow a steep track with wooden steps that lead upwards. As we ascend, the temperature drops due to the higher altitude, making the hike more comfortable. After approximately 2 hours, we'll reach the vantage point known as "Mgongo wa Tembo" (Elephant back) at 3200m, where a well-deserved break awaits. Continuing on, the vegetation transitions from rainforest to open bushland, and at midday, we'll arrive at Saddle Hut (3550m) for a relaxing lunch break. In the afternoon, there's an optional side trip to Little Meru (3820m), offering stunning views of Arusha National Park and, on a clear day, even glimpses of Kilimanjaro in the distance (approximately 80 km away). Day 4: Saddle Hut (3500m) – Summit Attempt (4566m) – Miriakamba Hut (2500m) Duration: 10-12 hours of hiking You'll be awakened at 00:30 for a light breakfast before starting your summit attempt at 1:30 am. The trail begins with a steep climb from Rhino Point (3800m) to Cobra Point (4350m). The final leg of the ascent involves scrambling along a rocky ridge between the crater and inner cliffs of Meru. As the sun rises, you'll reach the summit of Meru (4565m), providing breathtaking views of the Meru Ash Tray and the distant Mount Kilimanjaro. After savoring the vistas, you'll descend to Saddle Hut for a brief rest, and then continue the descent to Miriakamba Hut (2500m). Meals: Dinner Accommodation: Miriakamba Hut

Day 5: Miriakamba Hut (2500m) – Arusha (1400m) Following a well-deserved rest and breakfast, we commence our final descent to Momella Gate. During this hike, you may encounter wildlife in the forest and meadows. At the base of Mount Meru, our driver will be waiting to transport you back to Arusha.
